Color Story

Growing up I always was a fan of purple. Everything I could get in the color purple, I believe that I had it in the color purple. In fact, I did not really want things pink at all. The only pink outfit to ever make my favorite list, had purple flowers on it. I even painted my room a gorgeous Lavender color once (after three years of begging).
But now, I do not think that I own a single thing purple. I still love the color purple, but I guess I have moved on. I am now no longer loyal to any one color, except I loyally do not like ORANGE of any shade.
I have plenty of pink items like shirts, purses, suitcases (Vera Bradley).
Blue was the accent color for my wedding because I originally planned on getting married in the winter and I was not fan of the colors of the green available. I wanted it to be subdued. Well, the date got changed but after we already ordered the bridesmaids dresses, so I could not switch to a bright and cheerful green. My favorite hydrangeas are blue Nico.
Green was the color of all my flowers at my wedding because it looked crisp and clean. I believe this became a go to color for my favorite flowers when I first became aware of the bells of Ireland. Not to mention that I have the cutest dress from Lula Kate that is in a fall green shade with gold accents.
Gold or yellow are two of my most used colors. I love pale yellow on me and I always wear gold accented items more and more now. I still favor white gold and silver over yellow gold when it comes to jewelry but I am becoming less and less afraid of the traditional gold.
I like other colors too for many things, but I wear no purple and plan to incorporate no purple into my house. Yet, if you ask me what my favorite color was I would still say purple.
Do I fail to show it because, I am afraid of being labeled childish for my love of purple? Or did I just decide that purple might be too girly for the husband?

Am I the only one that has forsaken their favorite color?

I was thinking of this because I have a family friend coming over to help me narrow down the colors to the exact one that we are going to order for both inside and outside of the house. Hubby and I have an idea but we want some help to make sure that it all flows together. We are leaning towards pale yellows and soothing tones of blue (ideally with gray undertones) for the most part inside. The outside Hubby wants to keep the white as the main portion and I am leaning towards a grey for accenting. We shall see what the lady thinks. She and I have very similar tastes for interiors.
This is the first time I am picking out colors that will probably dictate the furniture we EVENTUALLY buy for the living room. The fabrics we choose to recover the chairs, we already own. The rug we desperately need for the den.

I just feel overwhelmed by all of this and getting another opinion means the world to me because it helps me know that the work we are about to put into the house will not be in vain. I do not want to paint a room and then HATE it. I want to love the new space and embrace it. I cannot wait to move to the house and make it truly party of my life. I want to spend Saturday's not getting up and having to go to the house to work but waking up and walking outside to work in the yard for a bit before playing with my dogs.

I am going to have to take a short break from blogging due to some personal issues. Hopefully I will be back soon with some stories to make you laugh.
Please take care and I will try to still comment occaisionally....

Gorby wont close now

I woke up this morning expecting to be hungover but that was not the case. That means I was not too stupid last night when I went out last night with friends for a few drinks. I had a grand time and did not drink much but I was still worried about a hangover since I have not had more than one drink at a time in almost two years. I was pleasantly suprised and had a good time with friends.
My partner in crime, we will call her Miss M and I left at a decent hour of 10:30 to head home. She dropped me off at the house since that is where the Puppy was being babysat by the big black dog. We proceeded to laugh for a while over respective husbands pack rat tendencies and then our failed attempts to open a russian Matryoshka doll that featured Gorbachev. We called our friends we were with earlier and asked them if they would come open up "Gorby", but they thought we were crazy and hung up on us. We finally got him open but I have to let hubby close him because we are not that talented. I was in bed reading the newspaper by 11:30.
I am about to head home to vacuum and tackle a few other housecleaning tasks before Hubby returns from his trip.
Take Care!

I'm Back!

This past week has been the week that everyone has warned me about since I began my internship. We worked off behinds off for the previous four days and all I got to say is "Phew! It's over!"
I am tired and my feet are swollen from 48 hours of work (Monday through Thurs.; including one day of 5:45 AM to midnight), but I am off today! I learned a lot about people and the company. I met some awesome people for future networking possibility which is awesome. I have been told that I impressed some people that matter with my dedication. And I look forward to getting some sleep and back to working with other projects.
On a similar note, please pray for me! I have been asked to submit my resume for consideration for a job and I really would LOVE this job! This job would be perfect for me!
I got onto Google Reader for the first time since Sunday and found that i have 951 posts to read and I hope to finish those today and tomorrow since Hubby is out of town tonight on business.
OK, I figured that I would cut this post short by saying, I am glad that you all did not judge me for my name of my "pet" turtle that resides in my pool. Hubby thinks its a stupid name but I have stuck to my guns!
I promise to work on something fun to post tomorrow and maybe I can work on providing you with seven straight days of posting.

Myrtle the Turtle

Hubby and I have a pool in our backyard that we drained a few months ago to clean and paint but it filled back up with rain water before we could do anything. It has sat there with mosquito donuts thrown in for good measure for the past few months.
This pool has led to us getting a new "pet". And by pet I mean I stand on the side of the pool and stare at it. I have been unsuccessful in getting a good picture of Myrtle the Turtle, choosen for the rhyming nature of the name. Our big black dog is terrified of it, he used to swim in the pool regularly and now he stares to ensure that the turtle is nowhere near him before he enters the water.
Just thought you would laugh knowing that we are allowing Myrtle to be our pet since he eats bugs and you know that I hate bugs.

Father's Day

This father's day will be especially hard for Hubby since it is his first since his father passed away. I am not really sure what to say or do because I know that I cannot think of anything that would make it easier. It is so weird since we are in my hometown to celebrate it with my father yet we have no chance to see his father.
I figure that we get back to the "big city",  I am going to offer to go by the cemetery with Hubby if he wants.

It is so difficult dealing with this because I know how much Hubby is hurting and I feel helpless since I cannot do anything to ease his pain.

I just pray that God can make each day easier for Hubby since I know he misses the great man that was his father.

Weekend Update

This past weekend, I went to a wedding for a member of Hubby's family. It was in Podunk (i.e. middle of no where)! The ceremony was simply gorgeous and the reception was nice also, but they did run out of food before the family members ever made it to the reception. (Boo!)
I helped my MIL with the flowers and I am still exhausted. Hubby and I drove down there on Friday night and woke up early Saturday to help. We were not done until 11 pm.
Picture of the reception after everyone left and before we cleaned up! They made those "trees" and it turned out cool.
The bouquets in the foyer of the facility. The bride likes to hunt along with her new husband so feathers were kinda a motif of the whole event.

Instead of a groom's cake, they served pecan and blueberry pies with ice cream. Most of them were individual pies but some where large pies. It was delicious...

This was something cool that a friend of the groom's family did and it turned out spectacularly.

This is the ceremony location and as you can see it was stunning!

I helped make this arrangement, along with the cross below! My skills are improving!

I hope everyone is starting their week off good. I am staying busy at my internship. Hubby and I are making progress on the mortgage so that we can afford to hire contractors to help with major house projects. And it seems that things are going pretty good with settling the family business issues that have stressed out the entire family! I can definitely say that the Lord has been working in my life a LOT lately and answering many of my prayers.
Hope to post again soon, but we shall see if I can manage the time!
